You run across that once in a lifetime and you just fight for it, and that’s what we really did with Pantera. But it was all about making the right song you know. It was all about that melody, that ‘catch’ that could suck people in.”īrown says most of Pantera’s legendary riffs came out of collaborations between himself and Dimebag Darrell.
“Me and Dime worked on a lot of those riffs together. “He’d have this little riff part and I could come in with a different little section at the end of it, that’s what made the riffs on the records. We were four very different individuals in Pantera, and it really took the four of us to make what I called the ‘magic in a box.’” Any guitar player in a band is going to come up with the most of the stuff a lot of times.
