Inspired by this interstellar success (we have to stay on topic), the series by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Hayate featured a “parody” called SD Gundam in which the robots adopted the “Super Deformed” cartoon style, a graphic trend that was in vogue in the 1990s. After a rather difficult start, the license literally captivated the Japanese public and has been developed into cartoons, animated films, novels, goodies, manga and video games. Belonging to the genre of mecha, in other words the universe of robots, it is imbued with science fiction codes by staging very realistic space battles.
Mobile Suit Gundam – or simply Gundam – is an animated series created by Sunrise in 1979.
